The Tribe of Men are an organization that started in Northern California who wanted to help initiate men into adulthood and live by a set of principles designed to help make the world a better place.

The problem that they were having was that the initiation process was so labor intensive that they were only able to initiate a few men a year.

Many of the founders had a desire to see the group continuously run by volunteers only and this limited the amount of people who could be helped because of it.

The problem that the men going through the initiations were having was that they weren’t yet able to be who they truly were.

The tribe challenge process was designed to have a man look at all areas os his life and find the core issue that seemed to be holding him back, while a group of men co-created the challenge with him looking from their perspectives at what he needed.

When I got involved in the tribe, I noticed that they did not have a charter or a set of operating agreements. Several of us created a leadership council to address this issue and help us create a set of shared values and a clear and compelling purpose and vision.

My work with organizational development and experiences at growing teams in difficult situations helped them to see parts of their organization that we’re working and other areas that could use improvement. I helped them use a system called the Collaborative Operating System that allowed everyone to have input so that we would have the most alignment and ownership possible.

I challenged them to look at what they wanted to create in the world not just for ourselves, but for the future generations.

We have managed to share our teachings with a wider audience now and have set up groups in different areas of the country as well. We have also helped many families by giving men challenges and seeing them transform themselves into better people.

We have attempted to avoid a situation where young men no longer have a way to be initiated into adulthood.

We have transformed men from their limited beliefs, lack of vision and purpose into men who show up, get vulnerable and deep and are committed to constant learning, wholeness, integrity, love, compassion, contribution and growth.
